How are meditation maps organised?

These maps are organised by Meditation Map Libraries that can be found in the 'Meditate' menu on the Top Menu of ShumSanctuary.com. The Libraries start with the Rehnadee Shum Academy that hold maps that teach the philosophy behind Rehnadee Shum and language basics. Then the Library moves to five progressive levels of meditation–Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Guide and Master.

Are there maps for purposes other than mysticism?

Yes, for mental well-being, physical health and sound sleep. To meditate effectively a meditator must maintain clarity in mind and heart. To achieve this there are meditation maps that teach practical techniques that can be used by anyone be they meditators or otherwise. Many combinations of breath modulation combined with yoga poses do provide health benefits. Maps that generate health benefit and well-being will be tagged for convenient searchability. People also look to meditation for solutions to sound sleep. A special section within the Libraries will be dedicated to this.  There are also meditation maps that teach the underlying philosophy of Rehnadee Shum and also inspired mystical meanderings of Rehnadee Shum Masters and Guides. These maps can be found in the Rehnadee Shum Academy Library.

How do you read a meditation map?

We will use two meditation maps to learn how to read and use them. The first is a Beginner Level meditation that illustrates all the elements of a meditation map used in the practice of Rehnadee Shum's Dynamic Meditation–Shumnam. The second is a meditation map that is used for study and reading that is part of Rehnadee Shum's Academy.

Rehnadee Shum's Meditation Maps

These map have three elements to them. The First which is at the top level of the map has library Organising Information. The Second element is the Meditation Map with Rehnadee Shum words and numbered flow lines that lead to a goal in meditation. The Third element contains the Steps to Conclude the meditation which is within a box in the bottom right. The meditation map follows.

This meditation is named SeeSimNa Shumnam or The Open Your Eyes Meditation. It is a Beginner and Intermediate Level meditation that teaches how to manage distracting thoughts that occur in meditations.

  •  Rehnadee Shum words name all the steps in a Meditation Map. The map is read from the bottom to the top. The word at the top is the eventual goal of the meditation and is also the name of the meditation map.
  • Meditation Flow Lines and the Step Sequence Numbers connect all the steps of the meditation from 0 to however many number of words (not including the goal) on the map. Step 0 is preparation done prior to meditation followed by Step 1 which begins the meditation.
  • The Sequenced Steps lead to the eventual goal of the meditation which is the biggest word at the top of the map. An Arrow instead of a number on the Flow Line indicates that the goal is eventually attained through practice.
  • The box in the bottom right of the meditation map contains the sequence to conclude the meditation. The sequence starts from the top of the box going down.
  • The Dimension Count which is the number in the blue box indicates the dimension where the Rehnadee Shum word is connected to. It has nothing to do with the sequence of the meditation, rather it is used to guide concentration within the chakra of the dimension. This number becomes especially pertinent for words from the fourth dimension on up. Usually for beginner meditations the Dimension Count of the word can be ignored.

Meditation map formats

Meditaiton Maps can be drawn in three formats.

  • 1. Meditation Map with the romanised Rehnadee Shum and a nick name for the step. This type of map is best for those just starting out using meditation maps.
  • 2. Meditation Map with romanised Rehnadee Shum and Dimension Count of the word. This map introduces the Dimension Count for meditators who are accustomed to the meditation and are ready to be more specific on their point of concentration within the chakras.
  • 3. This meditation map is for seasoned Rehnadee Shum meditators who can read Rehandee Shum.

Rehnadee Shum Academy Maps

About Academy Maps

Rehnadee Shum Academy maps are simpler than meditation maps. They are mind maps that are used for learning Rehnadee Shum's philosophy and methodology. There are no numbered flow lines or concluding steps. The Academy also collects inspired works of Rehnadee Shum meditators, especially from its Masters and Guides. If possible their work can be encapsulated into Academy Maps and stored in the Academy's Library as part of Rehnadee Shum Scripture.

How are meditation maps created?

The conception of a meditation map starts with a goal. This goal is a mystical experience that a meditator has had. As the meditator reminisces on the experience he recalls how he reached the experience. He takes notes of these steps, such as feelings, images or thought patterns he may have encountered, breathing rythm and so forth. After the recall a simple map is drawn using description of what had happened. At this point the map doesn't have to have Rehnadee Shum words yet, especially if the experience is new to the Lexicon. To create a meditation map from his meditation the meditator must be able to repeat the experience in a different meditation session by following the initial steps he had written down. If the steps work then a Rehnadee Shum Master is sought to verify the experience. After this verification Rehnadee Shum words are designated for the goal and its steps. The map is then given to the Rehnadee Shum Council for final verification before the words are entered into Rehnadee Shum's Lexicon and the meditation map is organised into one of the Map Libraries. In the tutorial for the map the discoverer of the mystic experience is credited along with the date the map was officially entered into the Library.
